Drizzle: A Precuts Please Project
This quilt was the first design in the Precuts Please series. I’ve always been in love with raindrops: the shape of them, the sounds, the way that the world looks different when it rains.
Surprisingly, this was the first raindrop style quilt that I have designed in my long career. I’m not sure why. Perhaps it was the same hesitation that I had with hearts. I try to stay aware of common shapes and designs in the quilting industry. But it’s hard not to wonder now if I’ve just been hindering myself?
Drizzle is pieced in vertical columns instead of rows. For the background, I pulled strips from the Moda Grunge Silver Linings Junior Jelly roll. The raindrops are from Moda Grunge Hits the Spot. It was a custom cut jelly roll from a quilt shop. I adore when quilt shops do custom bundles and precuts. It offers so many more color possibilities!
I’ve been considering making a second Drizzle quilt but with rainbow raindrops. The only thing holding me up is that I can’t decide on a light or dark background. Any thoughts?
